DVC Moonlight Events & How to Navigate?

By Marietsy April 30, 2022

It can be overwhelming sometimes, but the good thing is when Disney Vacation Club (DVC) announces the moonlight event you have time to meet the requriements to go in the first round. This means you need a hotel reservation through Disney itself or through the vacation club side.

  1. Make sure to read the newletters or follow DVC on instagram to find out when the events are announced for the year.

  2. Reserve at a minimum the night of the event at one of the DVC resorts/rooms or through the Disney reservation phone line or online system.

a. Make sure everyone is listed on the reservation or at least the number of persons for the roomb. You can always change your reservation names later but the number of persons needs to be finalized before the invite gets sent
  1. The email invite will come from Disney usually one month before the event date

  2. Enter the queue the day before the event date or at least a couple of hours before and do not close the browser

  3. Once you are in the queue it will tell you what number place you have in line and when you finally get down to your next in line, stay calm it will take a few minutes to take you in. Make sure you have the following:

a. Membership IDb. Number of people going
  1. Take a screenshot once you have the confirmation just in case

Event Day

Well this can be confusing if its your first time and the event information is different based on location. Basically look for the blue lighted inflatables usually around the entrance to check in. Each event has been a little different but the one thing that always stays true is some food is included and most things are open. You always have all the ice cream and non diary sweets you can have. Best part you can enter the parks earlier than the event times and no park reservations needed. Below are my experiences by Park:

EPCOT

The most implortant thing to know is that the world showcase, where the countries are located, closes once the fireworks show is about to start. So make sure to visit the stores before the fireworks starts and same for the food spots as the carts close as well. The good thing is all the rides stay open so you can still ride ratatouille and Frozen.

Events happen usually when there is a food festival or festival with food and the last few moonlight events DVC members and their guests are given tickets to redeem at the booths or food stops in future world once the event starts. This year members got free popcorn and special popcorn buckets but the line was long so choose rides and leave the popcorn buckets for the end.

Hollywood Studios (MGM)

I will be going to my first event there this year and will have an updated article at the end of May on how the food options are and rides.

Animal Kingdom

First year I went there was a hurricane on its way to Florida about a couple days to a week after the event so the event had less people. We had all the ice cream and sweets we could have, which is acutally available at all events. Rafiki's planet watch closes early usually at dusk, so if you want to see go straight to the back of the park to check out. The last event the food was unlimited hot dogs and everyone was able to get a lightup mug in honor of a new nightime show the park opened.

Magic Kingdom

I went to one and this was one of the funest food and events. This was the first time with unlimited chicken nuggets and we went wild. It was fun and even though it was raining it was still a blast.

Overall, get there early and have fun!
